A global nonprofit organization, Habitat for Humanity is committed to improving local communities and, in June 2019, it announced the Cost of Home campaign, aimed at delivering solutions to help more than 10 million people in the US meet their basic housing needs. Among its goals, the campaign seeks to mobilize partners, community members, and volunteers across the country to identify and improve legislation, systems, and policy at federal, state, and local levels.
The Cost of Home campaign centers on four core areas to address home affordability in the US: expanding communities of opportunity, improving land use for affordable housing, developing fair access to credit, and increasing access to and preservation of affordable housing. More than 200 groups have already signed on to Habitat for Humanity’s first nationwide advocacy campaign. Find complete details at habitat.org/costofhome.
